Art and the Love Response

"The artworks they considered most beautiful increased blood flow in a certain part of the brain by as much as 10 per cent – the equivalent to gazing at a loved one."

A new study conducted by the University College of London concluded that looking at art, good or bad, elicits the same brain activity as looking at looking at a loved one.  This helps explain my affinity to Mark Rothko's paintings, such as the one above.
